In 2007 we elected to have Johnston Technical Services (now Goal Advantage) process map our personal property tax return compliance process. Prior to mapping the process, each professional prepared and filed client personal property statements using their own way.  The process mapping procedure created an overall standard return preparation process that included standardized documents.  The process developed was procedurally strict but also included flexibility for each manager to vary from the process based on the needs of our clients.  The process became more efficient through a reduction in chargeable hours per engagement. The number of internal corrections was decreased by 25%.  The estimated cost savings for a season of returns was $94,500.

In 2008, our second key process was mapped and redesigned. Once again the process was standardized and best practices were incorporated.  Phase 1 of the process showed a 60% reduction in cycle time. This alone saved the company $1500.00 per appeal.
